Our Relationship with McDonald's
McDonald’s and Ronald McDonald House
Charities – We’re Lovin’ It!

Many people often question the affiliation between Ronald McDonald House Charities and McDonalds Corporation and we wanted to include a brief explanation of our relationship to the community.
Although Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent not-for-profit organization, the McDonald’s Corporation provides an invaluable level of support through its McDonald’s owner/operators, their suppliers, employees and customers. On a National level, the McDonald’s Corporation pays the general and administrative costs of the RMHC global office, which means a majority of the money donated by individuals and organizations goes to local RMHC Chapters and supports the Charity’s three core programs: Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
The corporation’s involvement extends beyond monetary support. Many franchises partner with local Chapters for promotional and fundraising events. Restaurants also have canister collections at registers and donate proceeds from in-restaurant sales of USA Today. McDonald’s owner/operators often serve on local RMHC Boards and volunteer with their co-workers and employees at House events.
In Savannah, our McDonald’s owner/operators are Board members, committee members, House and Family Room volunteers. They take time out of their busy schedules to participate in various facets of our organization and on various projects.
One avenue of their support is through the Penny-A-Pound program that essentially gives back one cent for each pound of French fries that are sold in all the stores. It may not sound like a lot at first, but to date the money raised through that project has funded the construction of the Family Room in St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital and will fund the construction of a new Family Room in Memorial Hospital. That is A LOT of fries!!! We love our McDonald’s family and our appreciation for the Owner/Operators and their staff members is immense. RMHC continues to say THANK YOU to our McDonald’s Family for your past, present and future support of the Savannah House, Family Room and Care Mobile programs and for your support of Ronald McDonald Houses across the globe!
