Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Savannah Ronald McDonald House Provide?

We believe that children heal faster when their families are near. The House is a “Home away from home” for families with critically ill or injured children receiving treatment in area hospitals and is located directly across the street from Memorial Medical University Center. We are also a few blocks from St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital. This proximity allows parents to have 24/7 access to children. Our House has 10- private bedrooms with bathrooms and all the amenities of home including a full-size kitchen, laundry facilities, a great room, living room, TV/Playroom area and outdoor recreational area.
Our staff and volunteers provide a support system for families staying in the House along with a unbreakable bond that families build with others experiencing similar circumstances

How much does it cost to stay at the Ronald McDonald House?

The cost to house one family for one night is $65.00. RMHC request a $10 donation per family for every night they stay, but many cannot afford that donation. No one is turned away because of their inability to pay. Our staff and volunteers work hard to raise money to support our Share A Night fund which offsets the costs of families staying at the Ronald McDonald House and relieves their financial burden so they can focus on what is most important – their children getting better. Our staff and volunteers provide a support system for families staying in the House along with a unbreakable bond that families build with others experiencing similar circumstances

             Premature Birth
             Trauma
             Hematology/Oncology treatments

How do families qualify to stay at the Ronald McDonald House?

Families are welcomed to our House on a first come, first serve basis. They must live more than 30-miles outside the city limits of Savannah and have a child receiving treatment at a Savannah-area hospital. Our staff works directly with the social workers and nursing staff at the hospitals for referrals of families.

What other programs does RMHC of the Coastal Empire operate?

Our House is the cornerstone program of our organization. We also operate a Ronald McDonald Family Room in St. Joseph’s/Candler hospital and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in Beaufort County (SC).
