Ronald McDonald House
In 2013, the Savannah Ronald McDonald House was on pace to exceed the number of family nights provided in 2012 (3008 family night stays). On April 15th, we had to temporarily suspend operations due to much needed work that our house required. The House was closed for 189 nights, but since re-opening, we have been at max capacity, and our wait list on average has been 15 families. During the closure, we were able to expand our facilities from a 10-Bedroom House to a 13-bedroom House. The Savannah Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for families who live more than thirty miles away and who have a critically ill or injured child receiving treatment at Memorial Children’s Hospital, Candler Hospital, or where needed in the Coastal Empire. The House provides a warm, home-like atmosphere where families can sleep, eat, watch TV or just relax and most importantly spend time with each other and with other families in similar situations. The families share a large living room area, where they can watch TV, movies, play games or just sit and relax in the comfort provided. There is a double-size kitchen, and a hot meal is provided each night for the families staying with us. There is a pantry where breakfast, lunch and snacks are available for our families, with an adjoining dining area for their ease and comfort. There are) laundry facilities, with all the products needed for our families to take care of the daily needs that still go on while your child is in the Hospital. There are several additional sitting areas inside and outside for our families to take a break and enjoy the fresh air or to reflect with nature .
