Our Response to COVID-19
How we are responding to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts the United States and countries across the world, the Board of Directors and Staff at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire (RMHCCE) are committed to the families we serve whose children are undergoing medical care in the Coastal Empire. We would like to assure you that the health and safety of our families, staff, volunteers, and communities remains our top priority.
We continue to do our mission. As much as things change, they remain the same- whether your child is sick on Tuesday, Christmas Day or during the novel coronavirus, our House will be here for you. For the Family of a hospitalized child, it will be the most important House they will ever visit.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire (RMHCCE) continues to follow the guidance and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Georgia Department of Public Health, World Health Organization (WHO), and our local partnering hospitals. We are closely monitoring and responding to the outbreak as circumstances change at a rapid rate. RMHCCE has put in place several policies to limit the risk and spread of COVID-19 in order to protect our children and our families.
At this time, our House programs remain open, but we have closed communal spaces for families and temporarily suspended in-person gatherings, including all volunteer activities inside our buildings. We have suspended our two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and have offered our Family Rooms as rest stations for hospital workers, physicians, and nurses.
Our team is taking a proactive approach to ensure the safety, health, and comfort of the vulnerable population we serve, in addition to all stakeholders and staff. We will continue to monitor and react to the spread of COVID-19 based on the recommendations of our health care partners and health authorities.
For the safety and well-being of our families and their children and due to Ronald McDonald House Charities guidance, we are not able to accept the following items:
- Expired or opened food
- Used toys or stuffed animals
- Used books or magazines
- Used clothing, bedding or furniture
RMHCCE is working diligently to continue to fulfill our mission and meet the needs of each individual family under these challenging circumstances. As a result, we are continuing to request the support and dedication of our community partners. If you would like to support families at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire by donating meals or through any other capacity, email us at Jessica@rmhccoastalempire.org. We thank you for your support.
Our Home is filled with more than help; it is filled with hope… Near the care they need with the family they love.
