For nearly 40 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire has kept families close when they need each other most.

Now, it’s time to make room for more. On August 11, 2026, RMHCCE officially launched the More Rooms, More Families Capital Campaign, a $12 million effort to build a new Ronald McDonald House that will dramatically increase our ability to serve families whose children are receiving medical care in Savannah. Our current House has served this community faithfully since opening its doors on July 11, 1987, as the 102nd Ronald McDonald House in the world. But today, the need has outgrown our House.

The Need Is Here Today

Our current Ronald McDonald House has just 13 guest bedrooms. Every day, families come to Savannah because their child needs specialized medical care. They arrive from communities throughout Southeast Georgia, the South Carolina Lowcountry, and beyond. And far too often, there simply isn’t room. On an average day, 16 to 26 families are waiting for a room at Ronald McDonald House. These aren’t numbers on a waiting list. They are mothers and fathers who want to be near their child. They are families with babies in the NICU, children recovering from surgery, children undergoing cancer treatment, and children facing serious illness or traumatic injury. They need Ronald McDonald House. We need more room.

The Future: 32 Bedrooms. Thousands More Family Nights.

The new Ronald McDonald House will grow from 13 bedrooms to 32 private guest rooms, dramatically increasing the number of families we can welcome each year. The new House is being designed around the changing needs of the children and families we serve and will include:

• 32 private family bedrooms
• Four specialized isolation rooms for children with compromised immune systems
• Expanded kitchens and dining areas
• Larger family gathering and living spaces
• Enhanced laundry facilities
• Accessible accommodations for postpartum mothers and family members with mobility needs
• Spaces designed for longer-term and specialized-care families
• A secure outdoor courtyard and garden
• Expanded areas for family support, volunteers and programming

At full capacity, 32 bedrooms will provide the opportunity for approximately 11,680 family nights each year. That means thousands more nights when a parent can remain close to their hospitalized child. More Than a Building This campaign isn’t about building a bigger House simply to have a bigger House. It’s about families.
