Ronald McDonald House Charities© Family Rooms
As one of three core programs of the Ronald McDonald House Charities© (RMHC©), our Family Rooms are an extension of the services provided at the Ronald McDonald House©. Only steps away from the pediatric and intensive care unit, our Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms© provide a place for family members to rest and regroup right at the hospital, and stay close to their sick child.
Located in the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital at Memorial Health University Medical Center and St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital, our Family Rooms serve immediate family members who have a child (up to 21 years old) in the hospital. These two rooms serve over 3,000 families each year. Many of these families are currently on the wait list for the House.
Both of our Family Rooms feature laundry facilities, a shower, small kitchen, living area, and quiet rooms where families can rest. Through generous donations from our community, our kitchen is stocked with snacks as well as on-the-go meals and our laundry facilities offer free laundry detergent.
RMHC© Family Room at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital
Our first Ronald McDonald House Family Room© was opened in 2006 at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital. The Family Room is located on the fourth floor of the Candler Hospital Campus (More about St Joseph’s/Chandler Hospital).
Our Candler Family Room is open from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday – Friday and Saturday – Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm. Volunteers help to make our Candler Family Room a home by donating their time and talents. As with our House, staff is minimal. We therefore rely on our volunteers to work with us to take care of the Family Room and make sure this room is open.
