Director of Comfort
Meet Willow
Every House needs heart.
Ours has four paws.
Willow is a fully certified therapy dog serving Ronald McDonald House Coastal Empire. As our Director of Comfort, she is specially trained to sense emotional distress and gravitate toward individuals who may be overwhelmed, anxious, or nearing their limits.
She doesn’t just enter a room.
She reads it.
Trained to Support More Than Smiles
Willow is an Australian Labradoodle selected for her calm temperament, joyful personality, and hypoallergenic coat, ensuring safe interaction with children and families navigating medical crisis.
But her role goes far beyond playtime.
She has been trained to recognize heightened emotional states and respond with steady, grounding presence. In moments when stress feels unbearable, her quiet companionship has helped de-escalate emotional crises and restore calm.
There have been times when her presence has quite literally changed the course of a moment that felt hopeless.
That is not coincidence.
That is training, instinct, and heart working together.
Why Willow Matters
Medical crises do not only affect the body.
They weigh on the mind and spirit.
For parents, siblings, and even staff, exhaustion and fear can accumulate quietly. Willow creates interruption, a pause in the stress, a breath in the chaos, a reminder that connection still exists.
Sometimes healing begins with a hand resting on soft fur.
Sometimes strength returns in the form of a wagging tail.
Sometimes healing looks like a hug.
Sometimes it looks like a wagging tail.
At Ronald McDonald House Coastal Empire, comfort is part of care.
Willow makes sure of it.
