The Sweetest Way to Support Families
Pop Tabs
It may start with a Coke… Or a sparkling water… Or an energy drink after a long day. Before you toss that can, pull the tab, and keep it. Because those tiny aluminum tabs add up in a very big way.
The Numbers Might Surprise You
It takes 1,128 pop tabs to equal one pound. We typically receive $0.40–$0.50 per pound when recycled. In 2025, our community collected enough tabs to generate $6,187 in support of Ronald McDonald House Coastal Empire.
That equals more than: 18,746,510 pop tabs. Yes, over 18 million.
That’s a lot of soda. And a lot of heart.
Why We Collect Them
Pop tabs are made of high-quality aluminum, making them valuable in recycling programs. The proceeds help offset the real cost of serving families staying at our House. It costs more than $150 per night to provide a room, meals, and support for one family.
Families are never charged to stay. Community efforts, including Pop Tabs, help ensure that promise remains true.
What Counts?
We take more than just Coca-Cola tabs (though we’re always happy to see those).
If it’s aluminum and has a pull tab, it counts:
- Soda cans
- Energy drinks
- Soup cans
- Sparkling water
- Anything with an aluminum tab
If you can pull it, we can use it.
Drop Them Off
Bring your collected tabs to the Pop Tab House located near the entrance of: Ronald McDonald House Coastal Empire 4710 Waters Ave, Savannah Ga.
Drop them off anytime.
Why It Works Pop tabs connect classrooms, offices, families, and businesses in a shared act of generosity. It’s simple. It’s tangible.
And it turns everyday moments into meaningful support.
So the next time you crack open a Coke, remember:
That tiny tab carries weight.
